Customer Rating: Summary: I don't miss a desktop/bigger laptop Comment: I don't think there is any other computer in the market with this weight that comes with a DVD/CDRW. Also, the battery life is amazing! I have been able to use it for up to 10 hrs.
I used to think I wouldn't be able to work with a resolution lower than SXGA+, but it took me only a few days to get used to this laptop's resolution. The fact that is wide-screen helps a lot for having two applications next to each other.
I use it mainly for web development, email/browsing and writing. I am able to run Apache, MySQL and PHP quite well. It can be sluggish when using high-performance apps.
My only complain is that it doesn't come with a built-in microphone. Also, I reinstalled the OS using the installation DVDs (which you need to create ) and it didn't seem to re-create the small partition with the software to use the feature that lets you play DVDs without booting the OS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sony TX Comment: Excellent purchase - I was looking for a lightweight computer with good battery life, a large memory and optical drive. The TX seemed to be the only good option - every other ultra lightweight computer was missing something or was just too expensive (ie Toughbook). I would recommend this computer - the only thing I would change for other users might be a faster processor because it slows down a bit when multi-tasking.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Best Itty-Bitty Laptop Comment: It is undeniable that Sony makes a good (but expensive) laptop. The TX750 meets my needs and looks great. The standard battery life is decent, expect around 4 hours under normal circumstances. The extended battery will last for maybe 7, but it adds a significant amount of weight and bulk to the laptop. The newer TX Vaios have a longer standard battery life and some other upgraded features, but cost a few hundred more. It's up to you. I primarily use this laptop for school, so it's more than sufficient as the pricey, glorified word processor I use it as.
The screen is bright and crisp. I haven't really watched many videos on it, but so far, everything looks great. Performance meets expectations for the price and specs. Windows loads fairly fast and I haven't had too many problems with programs freezing up. The charcoal graphite lid is a cool touch, but after lugging it around for a few months in my school bag, it has started to get scuffed and a bit unsightly looking. I recommend a protective case if you plan on abusing it at all. The keyboard can be a little tough to read in dim lighting due to the black on silver lettering, but it isn't that big a deal to me.
Overall, I would say the TX750 delivers pretty good bang for the buck, but power users may prefer one of the newer releases for the added memory and battery performance. The price of this model has come down a bit since I bought mine, so I would say it is the perfect choice for students or casual traveler users.
Customer Rating: Summary: I absolutely LOVE this computer! Comment: I bought this little laptop because I have a large "desktop replacement" 17" widescreen also which has become too large to bring to meetings, classes or seminars I may go to and I noticed many other executives using this Sony TX model so when I received it I was pleasantly surprised at the weight, the outstanding color and brightness and I get tons of comments on how practical and helpful it is in meetings! I bought another one recently for my husband as I originally bought him a Sony UX which is too small and not very practical which I'm now returning and he absolutely loves his Sony TX too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You can get add-on memory directly from [...] for a great price too!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great portable computer Comment: I got this computer about a week ago and I absolutely love it! It is incredibly small while still being practical. Probably not a great computer for anyone with limited vision, but otherwise perfect. Great for anyone who needs to take their computer with then without adding a ton of weight. Perfect for students to take to class. Highly recomended.

The ultra-portable VAIO TX750P/B Notebook is an incredible 2.76 lbs with standard battery and has a standard battery life of 4 to 7.5 hours. The integrated DVD+R Double-Layer/DVD?RW drive puts the power to create high-quality, customized DVDs at your fingertips. A stunning 11.1" widescreen display makes this notebook easy to use for work or play. The integrated 802.11 b/g wireless LAN and wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies keep you connected in almost any location. With wireless WAN, you can access the Cingular Wireless national EDGE network to extend your wireless coverage beyond LAN access networks and hotspots, giving you the freedom to go farther, do more, and stay connected. And, with Sony's original SmartWi technology which seamlessly integrates wireless WAN, wireless LAN, and Bluetooth technologies, you can quickly and easily toggle between your connectivity options.
