Summary: Great Product... Thanks I-Robot Guys !!!
Comment: I bought this Roomba (4230) in 2005 and at that time paid around $350 at a specialty store. It was more an item bought because of the technology and not as much as the need for floor cleaning. Coincidentally, most of my co workers have bought Roombas & Scoobas and were very satisfied with these. After four years of nonstop use three times per week, I am very satisfied with the I-Robot product.
The Roomba cleans carpets, wood & tile floors in an amazing manner as long as you use the virtual walls properly since its operational time was only about 40 minutes. The only problem this product had was when trying to go over area rugs and bath mats, where it got stuck. Otherwise, no complains.
My concern on how much the original battery lasted did clear out when I bought a replacement battery one year ago. With this new power device, the cleaning time increased to almost 90 minutes per cycle.
The Roomba continued working great until two months ago when it got wet with a defrosting fridge. I verified all diagnostics published on the Internet and since it seems like an electronic failure, decided on buying the same one from an Amazon reseller for $200 than trying to send it for repair.
I considered the new 560 but the reviews of the problems with the side brushes, discouraged me on buying this new robot and getting a new "old version" which has not arrived yet. In conclusion, although the Roomba is not a reason to fire your cleaning maid, it is an excellent device that will help you keep your floors clean.

Summary: Roomba is a cheap piece of junk
Comment: The Roomba Scheduler is a cheap piece of plastic junk. The reliability is terrible. The roller broke, the platform that holds the rollers broke, the battery died and the gears came to a grinding halt. All within one year. The customer service is the worst. The design is terrible. When I opened it up to try to fix the broken gears I found that the inside of the machine was full of dirt. I threw it in the trash and I will never buy another IRobot product.

Summary: Irobot ate my daughter's school project - But will NEVER go back to the old style vacuum
Comment: My husband and son got together and thought I would just love an Irobot. I complained a bit that they ordered it...but would give it a try. They set it up quickly. In a few hours off it went....and it has been going every day for the past 3 months. What a great find! Never will I got back to the old style of vacuum. We have a cat which sheds some...but I have 3 kids who track in dirt daily. When I come home from work, I have a freshly vacuumed house. It finds its home base about 90% of the time. If it does not, it is usually our fault. The Irobot ate my daughter's school project she left on the floor - was repairable! It has eaten up many cat toys. It will go after anything you leave on the floor. No mercy! It does not nick the woodwork! So in the end....love, love love it!!! Never will I go back. Only quality issue - one of side brushes fell off...still worked great. You do need to empty the container each day...takes about 20 secs....you will be amazed the dirt it picks up each day...To think I was walking in the stuff for days.First time in history a child goes to school and says my robot ate my homework, not the dog!!! By the way I am a mechanical engineer...so passes my test!

Comment: After the purchase, I actually vaccum less. It works really well. The only complaints are it is noise and the replacement parts are expensive. So turn it on when you go out and try not to break an parts.....

Comment: This is a great unit to clean up normal litter on the floors.Amazed how well it moves from Carpet to Hardwood floors without help. Doesn't eliminate regular vaccumm cleaners but reduces the need significantly.

The Roomba 4230 Scheduler Robotic FloorVac will start cleaning whenever you tell it to! Any time of day or night, when you are home or not, once a day, once a week, or three times a day--just tell it what to do. Upon completion of its cleaning mission, it automatically returns to its Home Base to recharge its batteries. The Roomba Scheduler knows what surface it's cleaning and automatically adjusts to whatever floor surface it's on.
