Customer Rating: Summary: Seems to work well for us Comment: After reading the negative reviews on this backpack, I wanted to write my own. We have used and owned this backpack for one year, with no indication of anything falling apart or not working well. It has been very sturdy, and our son, who is 13 months old and 28 pounds has always been very securely held in place since we began using this one year ago. You can turn upside down to tie your shoes, and your baby won't move if you have it adjusted properly.
I am 5'4" and my husband is 6'2" and both of us wear the backpack equally comfortably. I can put this on with my son already strapped in it, and take it off by myself easily and safely.
My back and shoulder muscles felt sore when I started carrying my baby in the pack, but that's because those muscles needed to be strengthened, not because of any design flaw in this pack.
The sunshade seems to be very easy to put on and to take off.
The reason that I have rated this four stars is this:
1. There is no place for baby to lay his head when he falls asleep. This is frustrating for him sometimes.
2. It would be nice if there was a way to detach the lower big compartment of the backpack.
Customer Rating: Summary: Must Have! Comment: This is a great product!! You almost don't need a diaper bag/lots of storage. Comfortable! Our baby loves going on hikes/busy market places.
Customer Rating: Summary: Faulty waistband snapped while I was wearing the carrier Comment: The waistband on this carrier snapped while I was wearing my child in the backpack. The two sewn sections simply came apart. The backpack has only been used a few times. My child is well under the weight limit for this carrier, and the waistband was not being stretched beyond its size (my husband and I are both thin). This backpack is not well made and the faulty waistband is a safety hazard. I have reported the problem to the manufacturer and the seller and I will update my review after I receive responses.
Customer Rating: Summary: Please read this - important info on this carrier!!!! Comment: I bought this carrier (after lots of searching and comparing) for the good price and looks. When I got it, I was so excited to try it. I wore it once (no problems, AWESOME!!) and my husband twice (he's 6'2" and says it doesn't hurt his bad back), on the third time he put it on, he reached around to put the waist belt on and the big adjustable plastic piece snapped right off (btw, if you check the customers pics on here you'll see someone else had the EXACT problem!). He barely tugged on it! I immediatly wrote evenflo. They responded quickly and offered to fully refund my money because they couldn't send a replacement part since the brittle cheap plastic piece is SEWN into the belt. I was quite disappointed since this on flaw ruins the whole thing. I asked if I could just mail the plastic piece and get a refund, but the only way you can get a refund is to CUT OFF the shoulder straps AND waist belt and mail it to them - rendering the whole pack unusable. I don't think it's worth trashing the whole thing. I'm keeping it and found a much better material (flexible but sturdy, cloth covered foam) to replace the mistake Evenflo made. I will post pics of it on here soon. Hope that helps you with your decision, it really is a great pack and hopefully Evenflo will take my advice on that one issue.
Customer Rating: Summary: Belt Support Broken While Using Comment: I love this back pack design, but the belt support is clearly not as durable as it should be. I have owned it for a few months, but only used it about 10 times around the house. My son is about 20 lbs and there has been no extreme use or wear and tear. There is a plastic flat piece that is the back middle of the belt support. It has holes stamped in it to allow the belt support to be raised or lowered. As I was walking with my son, I pulled to tighten the belt and the whole plastic part split in half. This left the entire belt support split in half (see customer photo). I will be contacting Evenflo for a replacement and will update this review based on their support.
