Summary: time will tell
Comment: I used the older model of the gardena yard timer for at least 10 years with zero problems, other than the color fading from the sun. forgot it outside a couple of winters ago and it froze. I purchased the newer model this spring. I miss the button at the top so it was a solid feel when it turned off. So far it is working fine. Betty in Lancaster, Ca.

Summary: Leaks badly after one season
Comment: This is the second season we've had this product. It worked fine last year. However, it began leaking behind the connector on the pressure side of the timer. Fixing it is not a matter of replacing the rubber washer. The seal for this is on the inside. It would have to be pulled apart. Just terrible.

Summary: Love it
Comment: This timmer is great. I usually set it for 90 min and leave. No tricky settings here.

Summary: How reliable?
Comment: We've only had this item for a few weeks and used it maybe six or seven times. At least once, however, it stopped ticking and the water stayed on way too long. Worked OK the next time, but obviously it can't be trusted.

Summary: So far so good
Comment: Every timer we have ever bought has broken in less than a season. So far this timer is working perfectly. It needs to last more than two years to be considered worth it. Only time will tell

Editorial Reviews:

Do you need to water your lawn or garden but don't want to be bothered with running out to shut off the sprinkler system? This Gardena water timer may be just the solution you've been seeking. The small timer attaches directly to your outdoor spigot and operates similar to a conventional kitchen timer. Simply turn the dial face to the number of minutes you want your sprinkler running, and, when the time has elapsed, your system will be shut off automatically, saving you trouble and preventing the mess and damage caused by puddles. The unit also contains a quick connector that attaches to your hose and allows it to be easily and quickly joined to the timer without a lot of twisting.
