Summary: Why is Amazon selling all these good items through Pro-Max Supply?
Comment: Having already been burned by Pro-Max, I wish that Amazon would at least give us the option of purchasing products from a more reliable seller. Formerly called "Crazy Dave's Toolshed," and now operating under the name of "Pro-Max," those bozos can't even handle a simple order like a box of staples. I'll be darned if I'm going to trust them to ship something like this fine Weber grill. Guess I'll have to buy elsewhere unless Amazon wises up and gives "Pro-Max" the boot.

Summary: Lasted 25 years!
Comment: I received this classic Weber Grill in 1984 as a gift. After 25 years of BBQ and grilling the bottom dampers finally gave out. I have cooked countless whole chickens, a few small turkeys and beef rib roasts, and hundreds of burgers, ribs, and too many vegetables to count. It is easy to set up the fire for different cooking methods and regulating the heat is very simple. Once the cooking is done, the dampers make shutting down the fire quick and safe. Over the last three years we replaced the old wood handles, and upgraded the grill grate. We will replace with a new Weber soon. In my opinion this is the best charcoal grill!

Summary: Great grill
Comment: I own this grill and love it. I just finished two ribeyes and I can't complain one bit. The charcoal "chimney" starter from Weber is also a great buy. It was much better than my old no-name brand starter. I never use matchlight or starter fluid anymore. The cover they sell is also nice. My Weber lives out on the porch and I haven't noticed any ill effects.

Summary: After ten years with my Weber Kettle, it's time for a new grill.
Comment: I bought this grill to use on the balcony of my apartment ten years ago and took it with me, when I moved six years ago, to the patio of my house. Frankly, it's a kettle grill with no frills. The one-touch cleaning system thing is a crock, but that's all right. It's a grill - you gotta clean it. It's gonna be messy.

Ten years later, and this grill is going strong and, let me say, mine has been very badly mistreated. I've NEVER brought it inside. I live in an area where everything closed down for Hurricane Isabel and I stood looking out at my balcony (with the grill sitting on it) and watched the wind blow the trees around and the rain come down in sheets. It's been outside for every single day of the ten years I've owned it. I clean it when I have to use it so the ash and old charcoal just sit in it for six or seven months at the end of the grilling season.

I finally need a new grill now for one reason only. When I bought this grill (and for the past eight years) it was sufficient to cook for myself and a friend or two. A couple of years ago, I gained a very hungry foster son, a retired mother, and the girlfriend of said foster son (who is here for most meals since she wouldn't eat otherwise). With the couple of friends still hanging around, I need more cooking space. This grill is not going into the great griller's beyond just yet though. Getting more space isn't all that easy when you insist on charcoal so I'm just gonna get myself another Weber kettle. I may get the 26" and I may get the gold or platinum but, I have to say, I soooo got my money's worth for this old workhorse.

Summary: Lifetime investment
Comment: This is a great purchase. The grill will last as long as you need it. The outside is rust proof. Best way to cook.

Complaints:
Bring back the wooden handles. The plastic handle gets hot.
Make sturdier grates. I've had my grill for 8 years and I'm on my 3rd grilling grate and 2nd charcoal grate.

Other than that, good product.

Editorial Reviews:

The One-Touch 22-1/2-inch Silver Kettle cuts a clean, familiar profile that's become synonymous with delicious grilled meals and family fun. This classic Weber Kettle has been enhanced with our exclusive One-Touch Cleaning System. One tug on the lever below the bowl sweeps ashes into the removable ash catcher. Porcelain enamel coats the lid and bowl for years and years of rust-proof, chip-resistant service. Fire it up.
